Dental Crowns That Shine In Munster, Indiana

What are Dental Crowns?

Getting a dental crown is a process that helps fix and protect a tooth that is damaged. It begins with a check-up, where the dentist looks at the tooth and talks with you about the best treatment. If you need a crown, the first step is to reshape the tooth. This means cleaning away any decay and shaping it so the crown can fit on top. Sometimes extra filling material (called a core build-up) is added to make the tooth stronger. If the tooth is very weak or has had a root canal, a post may also be placed for extra support. Your dentist will decide what’s needed for your tooth.

How Do You Know How The Crown Will Fit With My Smile?

After the tooth is shaped, the dentist makes an impression, or mold, of the tooth. This mold is used to make a crown that fits your tooth exactly and lines up correctly with your bite. This helps the crown work just like a natural tooth.

How Does A Dental Crown Go Into The Mouth

When the crown is ready—made from strong materials—it is placed over the tooth. The crown restores the tooth’s shape and strength while also protecting it from damage like breaking or new cavities. With good brushing, flossing, and dental visits, crowns can last for many years.

What Is the Dental Crown Process Like at Kristoff Dental of Munster, Indiana?

At our office, we make getting a crown simple and convenient. For back teeth, we offer same-day crowns, which means the treatment can often be finished in just one visit. (Please note, same-day crowns are not available for dental implants.)

For front teeth, matching the color is very important so the crown looks natural. We work with labs that do custom color shading. Sometimes this means you’ll visit the lab so their technicians can adjust the color right in front of you until it blends perfectly with your other teeth. Our goal is to give you a crown that not only works well but also looks like it has always been part of your smile.
