Surgery & Healing
The day after your surgery, you’ll return to our office so we can check your healing and adjust your temporary restoration for comfort. In the first few days after surgery, it’s completely normal to have swelling and visible bruising—even on the outside of your face. This is part of the body’s natural healing process and will gradually fade. During the next few months, we’ll see you for follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and fine-tune your temporary restoration as needed. While you heal, you’ll need to follow a softer diet to protect your implants. We recommend planning ahead if you have important events shortly after surgery, and taking it easy for the first week so your body has the best chance to recover quickly and comfortably.
Final Steps to Your New Smile
After 2–3 months of healing, your surgeon will perform implant torque testing to confirm the implants are ready for your final restoration. Once you’re cleared, we’ll take new impressions to capture exactly how your tissue has healed for the best fit possible. Your permanent restoration takes about three weeks to craft. On delivery day, we’ll remove your temporary and place your final restoration—making any fine adjustments needed—so you leave with a smile you’ll be proud to show off.
